Token Not Showing in Your Wallet? A Safe Troubleshooting Guide

Guides

Check explorer records, account selection and token identifiers before importing a missing token.

Key takeaway

An absent token display is not proof that funds are lost. Verify the transaction, receiving address, network and token contract independently before adding a custom token or seeking help.

Start with the transaction, not the logo

Obtain the transaction hash from the sender and open the correct chain’s explorer. Check whether it succeeded, which address received the tokens and which contract or asset identifier was involved. A pending transaction, a failed execution and a completed transfer require different responses. A wallet interface can lag behind the network or hide an unsupported asset.

Check account and network selection

Confirm you are viewing the recipient address, not another account derived from the same wallet. Select the network on which the transfer occurred. A token on one chain will not become a token on another by switching an interface setting. If the recipient is an exchange, also review supported deposits, memo requirements and the service’s confirmation threshold.

Import only verified token details

Many wallets allow a custom token by contract address. Obtain the identifier from the issuer’s official documentation and verify the network. Token symbols and decimals can be duplicated or misleading. Adding a token changes what the interface displays; it does not mint funds, reverse a transfer or grant spending authority. Do not enter a recovery phrase to refresh a balance.

Handle unsolicited assets cautiously

Unexpected tokens or NFTs can advertise a claim site or carry an attractive but unreliable price. Do not follow their links or approve a contract just to unlock, validate or sell them. Hiding or ignoring an unsolicited token is often sufficient. Even an explorer label is a clue rather than a guarantee; evaluate the actual contract and source of the transfer.

Escalate with public evidence

If the explorer confirms delivery to your self-custody account, consult the wallet’s official support information using the hash and network. For a missing custodial deposit, contact the receiving service and supply the public deposit details. Never give a support representative your keys. If the wrong destination or chain was used, recovery depends on who controls that address and the service’s capabilities; repeated imports will not fix it.
