Why You Cannot Send USDT or USDC Despite Having a Balance

Diagnose missing gas, wrong networks, deposit holds and token restrictions without trusting fake support.
Key takeaway
A stablecoin balance alone does not ensure you can send it. Check the selected network, available balance, required fee token and any account or token restrictions before retrying.
A token balance is not a fee balance
On many networks, token transfers need the native asset to pay network fees. Holding USDT or USDC alone may therefore be insufficient. Ethereum typically uses ETH, while other chains have different fee arrangements. Some smart accounts or services support sponsored fees or paying through another mechanism, but that is a product capability, not a universal property of stablecoins.
Confirm where the balance actually exists
Select the same network on which the tokens arrived. An app can aggregate balances from multiple chains while its send screen is set to just one. Inspect the account and token identifier on the appropriate explorer. A watch-only account may display funds even though the wallet has no signing credentials for it; importing an address alone does not grant spending authority.
Read the failure before adding funds
Insufficient funds for gas, network connection errors and contract reverts describe different problems. Check the wallet’s fee estimate and an explorer or official network-status source. For a custodial account, look for withdrawal holds, minimums, verification requirements or maintenance. Buying more gas will not remove a provider hold or a token contract restriction.
Consider contract and account limitations
Some stablecoin contracts can restrict transfers for certain addresses. Smart accounts may also require additional signatures, a working paymaster or a particular execution path. If a simulation fails, review the precise error and official documentation rather than repeatedly submitting transactions. A failed on-chain execution may still charge fees, while a rejected pre-broadcast simulation is a different stage.
Use a safe troubleshooting sequence
Record the chain, public address, token contract and exact error. Verify the token is genuine before paying any fee to move it; scam tokens can mimic familiar names. Obtain a modest amount of legitimate native fee currency through a trusted route only after confirming that gas is the issue. Never send an unlocking payment to a support agent or enter a recovery phrase to enable withdrawals.
